Can Yorkies Eat Strawberries?
Can Yorkies eat strawberries? Well, the short answer is yes, your Yorkie can eat strawberries, but they should only be eaten in moderation as eating too many can cause them to have an upset stomach.
However, because each Yorkie is different, there are a few things you should know before allowing your little one to consume this tasty treat.
Strawberries are packed with healthy nutrients that will help boost their digestive system; they contain numerous amounts of vitamins and minerals such as B1, B6, and C, Iodine and Potassium, along with several other nutrients that boost your little one’s immune system.
As strawberries contain sugar, some Yorkies may have trouble ingesting them because of their high sugar content. Your little one may also have ongoing health conditions, and eating strawberries could make them poorly.
It is recommended to only give fresh strawberries to your Yorkie, and never allow them to eat canned or frozen strawberries as these will contain extra ingredients such as sweeteners or preservatives.
Although strawberries are non-toxic and can be an ideal treat, there may be a slight risk that your Yorkie may develop an allergic reaction. If you do see any signs that your Yorkie may be unwell or they are not themselves, please do not continue to give them strawberries and seek professional advice.
